Value Bet

A bet, mostly on the river, where the bettor is hoping to be called, so he wins extra money from the call. For example, you hold 10♣ 10♠ and the board is J♦ 9♦ 9♠ 8♥ 3♣ and you make a well sized bet on the river. This would be a value bet, since you are hoping someone will call you, e.g. with 9♥ and pay you off.
