On 26th of August in the year 2008, we started our little poker blog with a Poker Tracker 3 Review, which means that we will celebrate our first birthday in about four weeks. Reasons enough for us to organize a little online poker tournament. So we proudly present:

The first All-About-Poker-Tournament
30th of August on PokerStars

In addition to the normal prize pool, Nokia is sponsoring a Nokia N96 and a copy of Million Dollar Poker for the winner. All in all a prize pool of over 500$. Big thanks to Nokia!!

Who can participate?

Everyone who has the PokerStars Software installed. If not already done, you can download it here.

How much is the buy-in?

What can I win?

Besides the normal prize pool (depending on the number of participants), the winner gets a Nokia N96 and a copy of the mobile game Million Dollar Poker.

Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi, a sponsored player of the online poker room Betfair, announced an Iron Man Challenge against Team PokerStars Pro member Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier. They will compete against each other in 17 events. In sixteen events, the winner will take home $10.000 and in the “Main Event”, which will be kick boxing, the winner gets $20.000.

But there’s more to it than that: whoever wins the most individual events will receive a cut of 15% of the other player’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) winnings up to a maximum of $300.000. And if either Sorel Mizzi or Bertrand Grospellier can emerge victorious in 80% or more of the events, they’ll receive an extra $50.000 from the other player.

The following events are planned:

  • bicep curl
  • shoulder press
  • triceps pull down
  • chin-ups

Day 2

  • angled leg press
  • leg extension

Day 4

Doyle Brunson bets against his death prediction

Sunday, February 8th, 2009 | Miscellaneous | 1 Comment

Mack Rawden wrote a macabre article in CinemaBlend named “100 Most Likely People to Die in 2009″ and listed Doyle Brunson in 16th place with a 10% chance to die from obesity in 2009. In my opinion, this statement is really ridiculous. Doyle Brunson lost about 130 pounds in the past five years.

Therefore Doyle Brunson wrote a blog post on his online poker site DoylesRoom, calling Rawden a “clown” and then remarking, “… he said it was a 10% chance I would die. I would like to lay 10-1 for any amount if anybody knows this joker.”

Marc Rawden accepted the bet for $1.000, which means Doyle Brunson would pay out $10.000 if he dies in 2009, with all the winnings going to the American Cancer Society.

One of Brunson’s poker colleagues will hold the bet. The possible list of trustees including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harman and Mike Sexton.

Never lose your pokerface

Sunday, October 26th, 2008 | Miscellaneous | 1 Comment

I found three funny videos on youtube, which are showing, that, if you want to be a poker pro, you should never lose your pokerface. No matter how strange the situation is, you have to be cool and self-controlled. These videos are commercials from Full Tilt Poker. I’m not sure, if these commercials are shown on tv in the USA. Maybe someone could leave a litte comment with this information.

In the first video you can see Jon Juanda, winner of the WSOPE Main Event in 2008 and owner of four bracelets.

In the second video you see Eric Seidel, who won 8 bracelets till now. Eric Seidel was runner-up in his first major tournament, the 1988 WSOP main event, to Johnny Chan. The final hand of this match was featured in the movie Rounders with Matt Damon and Edward Norton.

In the third video you can see Phil Ivey, who won five WSOP bracelets till now and who is, in my opinion, the most talented player in the poker circus. Phil Ivey is a regular participant in the Big Game at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas (a $4,000-$8,000 mixed cash game with extreme big pots).

A different kind of congratulation: F*cking Erick Lindgren

Monday, September 1st, 2008 | Miscellaneous | No Comments

In July Erick Lindgren was named WSOP player of the year 2008. The other poker pros congratulate him on a special way. Daniel Negreanu, Forrest Griffin, Phil Hellmuth, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Jason Alexander, Annie Duke, Patrik Antonius, Gavin Smith, Barry Greenstein, Joe Sebok and TJ Cookie made a videofilm named “F*cking Erick Lindgren” to honor him.

Have fun with the video!!
