After a roller-coaster poker match with a lot of suck outs, Michael Martin won the final table of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in London 2008. He defeated Michael Tureniec in the heads-up with 4♣ 4♥ against K♥ 9♣, turning a set. Michael Martin won the first price which is £1.000.000. Michael Tureniec as second receives at least £525.314.
Michael Martin had in the middle of the final table with blinds of 40.000/80.000 only 95.000 chips left and survived three all-ins in a row with a pair of eights, a pair of nines and a pair of aces. After that, he took the chiplead and eliminated all the other players.
Michael Martin was second at the Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam in November 2007 and fifth at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo (Season 4).

It sounds like Martin was on the brink of the rail and made a pretty amazing comeback to capture the win.

It reminds me a bit of the legendary Jack Strauss comeback (“a chip and a chair”). Bill Edler also had a fascinating comeback at the Gulf Coast Poker Championship event, where he had only 1.000 of chips with blinds 4.000 / 8.000 and antes of 1.000. He doubled and tripled up several times and finally won the tournament.
